Carol Maguire

Carol Maguire holds a Bachelor’s in Art History from Fairfield University and the Sorbonne.  She has furthered her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Barnes Foundation and Fleisher Memorial.  Her passion results in painterly works saturated with color and joie de vivre. Inspired by a love for color, textiles and gardening, her work focuses on objects that surround her daily life.

Maguire started painting full time and showing her work after 9/11/2001.  Her extensive travels have brought her to India, Peru, Romania, Guatemala and Honduras where she has taught her artistic skills to the indigenous women.  She has worked as a consultant for the State Department where Maguire’s special skills involved identifying the materials available and the skills of the artisans…and blending them to design a program of products to make.  She now teaches paintings workshops in Mexico, the Bahamas, Tuscany and at her home outside of Philadelphia.

Prior to her full time painting, Carol was the design director of a high-end doll company, she has taught doll making in the Transylvanian Alps and in the Andes of Peru. Carol’s quilt designs have been featured in books and magazines for Better Homes and Gardens, and she has designed dinnerware for Waterford-Wedgewood and Lenox China.

She now paints and designs full time in her 200 year old yellow farmhouse in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.

"I am in constant search for an image that best reflects my creative voice... an image that matches my emotional and spiritual journey... always seeking the perfect balance of light and color.  I am fascinated by the patterns created by the light...and driven to capture that moment in time.  An expression of my outlook on life. A moment in my life...through my eyes."

Robert Paul Galleries is proud to show the works of American artist Carol Maguire.
